Now more than ever, we can appreciate how difficult it must be to not have access to the medical supplies needed. This is a new experience for most Americans in the wake of COVID-19, but this has been a long-term reality for many people around the globe.
In Uganda, women must bring all of the birthing supplies with them when they go to the hospital to deliver. This is a big financial burden for many of the women we serve that live on $1-2 per day. To alleviate this burden, Mercy for Mamas hands out pre-packaged kits with all of the necessary supplies in them. We call it a mama kit. You can read more about these kits here. It is amazing to see the difference this $7 kit can have on a woman’s life. It’s a symbol of hope and dignity, and a ticket to getting medical help during birth.
