Our approach is simple.
- Provide women with the proper supplies needed to give birth. In Uganda, a woman must bring all of the supplies needed for the birth with her to the hospital. Many women do not get the care they need during labor because they cannot afford these supplies. We pass out bundles with all of the necessary supplies called a “mama kit”.
- Provide and encourage good prenatal education and care. We believe that if women better understand what is happening to their bodies during pregnancy, know the warning signs of a serious problem, and have regular check-ups during pregnancy the majority of complications can be avoided.
- Provide opportunities for women to connect with our partners that are working in their communities every day. These partners can provide physical, emotional and spiritual support for women during pregnancy and beyond.
