As a member of the team, I agree to:
1. Remember that I am a guest, and as such will abide by rules and procedures set by the host country and team leader(s). I will resist the temptation to correct or change things and will be open to learning from others.
2. Respect the ministry’s view of Christianity and use wisdom when discussing beliefs.
3. Develop and maintain a servant’s attitude towards the local people and my teammates.
4. Respect my team leader(s) and her decisions whether or not I agree.
5. Refrain from gossip. If I have a problem or concern, I will speak directly to my team leader and will not slander a teammate or vent my issue to anyone else.
6. Refrain from complaining. Mission trips can present numerous unexpected and undesirable circumstances, but I will use these events to grow in experience and character.
7. Be as respectful as possible when interacting with locals. I realize I may have to adhere to local customs and eat foods that I am not used to, but I will participate and be respectful in those times.
8. Respect the labor of those that we are working with in country. I realize that our team is only there short term and I will respect the knowledge, insight, instructions and traditions of the local people and those serving there full-time.
9. Refrain from giving monetary or verbal promises regarding any needs that may be presented to me, but instead present the request to the team leader.
10. Remember not to be exclusive in my relationships. I will make every effort to interact with all members of the team and to serve as a united group.
11. Refrain from the use of any alcohol or tobacco products during the trip.
12. Avoid any appearance of impropriety in my relationships and interactions with others on the team or people I meet while on the trip.
13. Wear modest clothing throughout the trip, as outlined in the trip information packet. I understand that some clothes acceptable in the US may not be culturally acceptable in other countries.
14. I will refrain from discussing any controversial or political issues with fellow teammates. If these issues are brought up I will respectfully agree to disagree if there is conflict and bring any concerns on this matter to the team leader.
